public art
There is no doubt that making art in a community setting is an entirely different kind of creative experience than creating alone. For many years I have participated in live painting commissioned events, often accompanied by other local artists and musicians. Being able to interact with the community in a positive, inspired atmosphere brings individuals of all types together, connected through the common thread of art and expression. Live event painting, body paint modeling, utility box art projects- and more.

City of Sunnyvale
Utility box project
Myself and 11 other artists were selected through an application process for the City of Sunnyvale's 'The Great Box Cover-Up!' project in 2022. Over a month-long period I drove down on the weekends and set up in the Caltrain parking lot: sanding & prepping, priming, mixing colors, and painting. It was an incredibly fun project, full of creative challenges and community interactions. The box design is a literal interpretation of 'Sunnyvale', meaning 'sunny valley', portraying the mountains around Sunnyvale at every time of day.

urban vibrancy institute

During the Summer months, Urban Vibrancy Institute puts on free live music and performance events in Downtown San Jose to bring the community together to connect and highlight local artists, musicians, and food & drink vendors. Since 2021 I have been lucky to participate in their events at different locations Downtown, live painting on surfboards throughout the night to awesome live music from the local bands. More events upcoming this Summer 2024.
